About Silo Sweets
... HOW IT ALL BEGAN
At Silo Sweets, the tradition of preserving food spans generations, with practices ranging from water canning, pressure canning, pickling, sugaring, salting, dehydrating, vacuuming, fermenting, freezing and freeze-drying foods. Faced with an excess of bulky glass canning jars and cumbersome containers, our founder and mom, Tracy, sought a lighter, space-saving solution for food preservation. In this quest, she stumbled upon freeze-drying, leading to the accidental discovery of the uniquely delicious experience of freeze-dried candies. Tracy has dedicated herself to perfecting techniques and recipes, passing down her expertise so that we can continue using these tried-and-true methods to bring you our light, crispy, and airy confections for years to come.
